El Valao is a single vineyard that was planted in the 1920s and now approaches 100 years of age. The low-yielding bush vines are mostly Mencía with some other local varieties mixed in. The wine is fermented with 30% whole clusters in stainless steel and aged for six to seven months in used French barrels before bottling. 2020 was an unusually warm vintage that produced fleshier, more fruit-forward wines.
