El Arca de Asa is the only wine Javier produces from grapes grown outside the village of Laguardia. In this case, the Tempranillo comes from an organically-farmed vineyard that was planted in 1942 in the village of Lanciego, Rioja Alavesa district. This vineyard was passed to Javier’s wife, Maria, from her grandmother. The wine ferments in concrete and ages for sixteen months in 225L and 500L French barrels.
